I Can See

Last year I went to an optometrist because I felt like my eyes were playing tricks on me. Every so often something would flash in my peripheral vision. At first, I thought it was just me getting a migraine, or maybe a trick of the light. I had no idea what it actually was, and that’s because even my wildest dreams couldn’t have made it up. It’s crazy looking back on this, just how naive I was.

When I went to the optometrist local to Bentleigh, I complained about my blurry vision and she did a series of eye tests to try and figure out what was going on. She said it wasn’t immediately obvious that I needed glasses but that maybe my vision was bringing on headaches. She gave me weak strength glasses to wear when I could feel my vision getting blurry around the edges. Apparently, that has fixed similar problems of the people who have come before me.

I’ll be honest, my optometrist definitely fixed the problem… depending on how you define the problem. If you live by the motto ‘ignorance is bliss’ then the problem was made entirely worse. If you like to face things head-on and get a clearer picture of what is going on around you (which is what glasses are supposed to do), then she well and truly fixed the problem.

A year on and it’s clear that I know too much. I put my glasses on every time something dances in the side of my vision. Because of my glasses and the visit to the experienced behavioural optometrist in my local area, I now know more than I could have ever imagined. I can’t go into too much detail about what I can see in this post. I don’t want people to read it and think that I’m crazy.

I am sure, however, that a lot of people are wondering what it is that I do see. While this isn’t the forum, I will let you know soon.
