Dream Career Change

It’s time for a change in career. I’ve been working as a chef at a fancy restaurant in my area for more than a decade. For the most part, I love the industry. It’s fast-paced, allows you to work interesting hours, and I really enjoy the times when I’m able to interact with customers as it gives me the chance to show off my friendly professional service skills. But I really want to advance my career, and the only way you can progress in hospitality is by becoming a manager or an owner – the last thing I would want. So, I’ve decided I would like to use my skills at a bathroom renovation company

Over the years, I’ve watched my brother renovate a number of different bathrooms for my family and friends and they’ve all turned out pretty well. He’s a freelancer and isn’t affiliated with any other company.

I’m currently looking for a company to help me start my apprenticeship. I had a dream last night that I began as an apprentice and then worked my way up to a more senior role when I garnered more experience. As a craftsman, I think it’s really important to not only have an understanding of how to physically repair and renovate aspects like sinks and plumbing, and install showers and new tiles – perhaps most important of all is the ability to actually generate new ideas and layouts. I have always had an eye for design, and I’m hoping that if I join a company, my new colleagues would help foster that as members of one of the most prestigious groups of bathroom designers Melbourne currently has available. I might be dreaming too big though.

For a few months now, I’ve been keeping a little notebook filled with sketches of bathroom floor plans and information regarding the type of grout, and the exact thickness of the shower glass. This is something I’m really passionate about, and I’m excited for the chance to finally do it properly.
